Whether you are an RPG gamer, a wargamer or just a miniature enthusiast, we have minis that will suit you. Sculptor Dan Kelly has 34+ years in the wargaming hobby and is a true miniatures enthusiast! A lifetime of experience in painting and sculpting models specifically to grace the tabletop gives the Lions Tower a unique edge ensuring miniatures that not only look great in the renders but also print and paint wonderfully and look great on the tabletop! HOW DOES IT WORK?

Dan has been running this Patreon with STL files since August 2019, but the market isn't what it used to be and the saturation levels are crazy! As such we've changed up the way we work, and so as of December 2022, we will be running the Patreon in a very different way. We have just launched our new web store (https://thelionstower.com) where we will be selling STL files and 3D prints of our models. Our workflow has changed significantly this year and as such we are no longer able to "keep up with the Jones's" on Patreon. Because of this new workflow and a heavy amount of client work, we cannot promise that there will be files available at the start of the month ready for you - we tried that and its too big a burden to try to manage it alongside family life with 2 young kids. We don't want you to subscribe each month because you're getting loads of models made without love or passion - we want you to subscribe because you like us and what we do! In return we promise to deliver characterful miniatures each month with your input to help design what you want. you will get a good selection of models that will be a joy to paint

Livestreams

Dan has been doing a lot more live streams through our Twitch channel (https://www.twitch.tv/the_lions_tower) - also simultaneously streamed on our Facebook page and Youtube channel too. Some of the sculpts are for our own range and some are for clients (with their permission). The Streams are run as interactive design sessions with viewers able to interact in real time and make suggestions and requests. Throughout the stream, Dan will talk about the process, techniques and decision making that is going on at the time (as well as general chat and small talk). You will get an insight into the creation process and have the opportunity to learn from Dan and ask questions about sculpting, mould making, casting, the industry as a whole and whatever else is in your head needing answers!

Zbrush Tuition

There are a limited number of personal zbrush sculpting tuition tiers available. To make use of these You will need a working copy of Zbrush and a pc or laptop on which to use it. We will connect through Discord and there will be a few hours of 1-1 training each month followed by an assignment. The assignment will be reviewed and feedback given to help deliver constant improvement. Training slots will be based around GMT timings, but evenings can also be arranged, with all slots needing to be booked at the start of the month and MUST be used within the month.

Miniature Design Consultation

Our Consultation tier gives you 2 hours a month of 1-1 time to get Dan to review your work and offer critique and suggestions for improvement. This can be of particular use to you if you are making models that are to be cast but he will also help you to make sure your models are scaled correctly and optimised for 3d printing as well as for your chosen method of production if it is not just 3d printed! Consultation slots will be based around GMT timings, but evenings can also be arranged, with all slots needing to be booked at the start of the month and MUST be used within the month.

PRE-SUPPORTED MINIS

have you ever experienced a "printgasm"?! No?! it's the feeling you get when a model prints perfectly and then comes off the supports with almost no effort at all requiring very little additional clean-up to get a perfect mini ready to paint (you still have to wash and cure it of course - we can't get around the messy bit unfortunately!!) All of my models are provided both unsupported and pre-supported (in both .stl and .lys format), with supports carefully and professionally designed in Lychee Slicer. STL and LYS files provided so you can scale up or down as required. All models are run through Netfabb to ensure that there are no mesh errors and they will print. Every one of my models is test printed on a Sonic Mini 4k or Epax X1 4K. WHO ARE WE?

Dan Kelly I am a full time sculptor and business owner of the Lion's tower. I have been painting miniatures since 1989, sculpting with epoxy putty since 1990, and sculpting miniatures digitally since 2010. I'm very lucky to be able to say that what you see here is my full time profession. Hayley Kelly My Wife Hayley left a 15 year teaching career in 2021 to join the Lion's Tower as Business Manager, dealing with the admin and accounts, advertising, renders etc to make sure I can focus on delivering some of the best models I can make! We have 2 wonderfully characterful children (Jacob and Willow). I've personally been collecting and painting miniatures since I was 5 years old. I took up sculpting in the first place to be able to inject some personality and a sense of dynamic movement into miniatures, and you'll find this is a common feature through my work. By becoming a Patron you are supporting an independent artist and helping me to continue doing what I love, so thank you in advance. My time is limited with a young family, and balancing their needs with work can be tough at times (especially in these trying times) but I am always happy to talk shop when it comes to miniatures! I'm also a professional 3d printer since 2016 so I am well versed in resin printing and always happy to help out and offer advice where I can!
